Gina Sanders' 2005 European Tour

London - Jersey - Rome - Velletri - Rimini - Stuttgart

London - 15 July

Concert Report

The photographs of the concert did not go as well at the concert itself, which went beautifully. It was particularly splendid to have Gina and cousin Sarah playing together in London, not for the last time !

The children's choir aquitted themselves very well.

Concert Report

An overwhelming response from the community saw Gina and Johnathon Pollard receive a standing ovation. Around 1500 pounds was raised for Jersey Hospice.

A lovely review (330 kb pdf file - click to view or right click and choose Save Link As...) has appeared in the Jersey Evening Post - we certainly hope Gina will return soon !

Rome - 22 July

Concert Report

A wonderfully intimate concert in the residence of the New Zealand Ambassador to Italy. Even a power cut could not stop Gina and Fabio. This is a marvellous venue, which literally looks out on the Trevi Fountain.

Velletri - 23 July

Concert Report

Un concerto memorabile!!!

There was a superb report published within hours by Roberto Scandurra, a most knowledgeable opera writer, with ant excellent site on Mario Del Monaco.

But in short, it was a fantastic concert with ace accompanist, Fabio, in Velletri's new theatre.

This picture is of Gina, Roberto and Fabio after the concert.

Now on to Rimini !

Rimini - 27 July

Concert Report

Gina sang in front of the beautiful Grand Hotel, which she described as a "Ten star" establishment, with hundreds of people filling the plaza, and listening from their balconies. Huge pictures of Renata Tebaldi overlooked the concert. Many present, including the president of the Renata Tebaldi society congratulated her on an outstanding performance, and invited her to return. Gina looks forward to this, as people in Italy have warmed to her, and she has had a marvellous reception where ever she has sung. Gina introduced the items in four languages, Italian, French, German and English, as there were people from all these countries enjoying the warm summer evening.

Stuttgart - 30 July

Concert Report

Another standing ovation from a warm and appreciative crowd. This was a lively and exciting show, where Gina was joined by local singers to present "When Musicals meet the Classics". Gina is made especially welcome in Stuttgart, as she studied at the opera school there.
